The fuel-injection system has a normally open type first metering valve (9a) and a normally closed type metering valve (9b). When the target discharge amount is in low discharge amount area in time of adjusting fuel flow volume supplied to a high-pressure pump (7), second metering valve is fully closed and first metering valve is opened. When target discharge amount is in the high discharge amount area, the metering valves are opened.
