The method involves providing a predetermined maximum speed for park phases (P1-P3) of multiple parking in or out events (PA1) consisting of multiple parking phases. Speed of a motor vehicle is limited with respect to an allowable maximum speed for the parking phases when the predetermined speed is exceeded during the parking phases. An independent claim is also included for a device for performing a method for assisting parking of a motor vehicle in and out of a parking space.
