The method involves providing a fixation object (5) at a subject (2) in a visible field, where the fixation object is fixed for calibration of an eye tracking system (12). A light image (3) of defined geometry provided in the visible field is fixed by the subject during predetermined time duration, where the subject provides the fixation object with an image of the light image. Fixation optical and/or physical parameters of an eyelet (1) are determined for calibration of the eye tracking system. The light image is formed as a flickering image on a contrasting background (11). An independent claim is also included for a device for determining data for calibration of an eye tracking system, comprising a fixation object.
