The system i.e. parking brake system (1), has an actuator (5) driven by a direct-current motor (28), which is operated in two opposite rotating directions. A control unit (10) controls or regulates motion of the direct-current motor. Evaluation within the control unit is performed based on an electrical parameter e.g. electric current, lying at the direct-current motor during application or releasing of the actuator. The electrical parameter is drawn as an input parameter for a diagnostic method to evaluate electric supply quality of the direct-current motor. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an electromechanical braking system.
