The method involves storing a resistance-temperature-characteristic curve of resistor heating elements (28, 30, 32) in a data memory of a power electronics (4), where the electronics controls a heating circuit of an electric heater (1). Resistance of the heating elements is determined during operation of the heater, where the heating elements are made from strip material. Temperature of the heating elements is read based on the resistance, and electric power of the heating elements is changed based on the temperature. An independent claim is also included for an electrical heater for heating fluid stream for a car.
