PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable proper treatment of a cut terminal filament by surely gripping and cutting a cross yarn formed in the knitting of a fabric.;SOLUTION: The 1st gripper 11 and the 2nd gripper 12 are movable in the longitudinal direction 16a along the needle bed 16 of a flat knitting frame 15 and in the closing and separating direction 16b relative to the space 15a of the needle bed 16. These grippers are switchable between a state free from the gripping of the knitting yarn 19 and a state gripping the yarn and are movable independent to each other. The cutter 13 to cut the knitting yarn 19 is placed at the side of the 1st gripper 11. The controlling means 14 controls the motion of the 1st gripper 11, the 2nd gripper 12 and the cutter 13 and the switching of the state and controls in a manner to cut the gripped knitting yarn 19 with the cutter 13 in the state of gripping the knitting yarn 19 with the 1st gripper 11 and the 2nd gripper 12.
