The method involves transmitting cryptographic authentication data from a short range communication interface of an electronic authentication entity e.g. station (2100) such as microcomputer, towards a short range communication interface of an electronic verification entity e.g. portable telephone of client. Verification is made by the verification entity to determine whether the verification data and the authentication data are identical. Utilization session of a vehicle (2000) is opened based on the verification result. An independent claim is also included for a system for opening a utilization session of a vehicle.
