The method involves calculating constraints and deformations of a blood vessel (4) using hypothesis of incompressible volume of an arterial wall of the blood vessel. Displacement of the arterial wall is calculated based on blood pressure using a finite element process. Characteristics of behavior law of the blood vessel are determined by adjusting a specific value until result of the calculated displacement is equal to predetermined displacement. An internal diameter of the blood vessel is determined using a determination unit of a signal treatment acquisition module (2). An independent claim is also included for a device for establishment of a relation between behavior and arterial stiffness of a blood vessel.
