Image processing console calibrating method for e.g. identifying pulmonary tumor of patient, involves generating calibrated function defining luminous intensity threshold for outlining tumor by mathematical approximation of parameters
The method involves measuring surfaces of different pulmonary cancerous nodules on corresponding computed tomography images obtained by a coupled positron emission tomography (PET) or computed tomography imaging machine (1). PET images of the nodules are obtained. A threshold luminosity value defining a contour on each PET image is determined. A luminous intensity parameter on each PET image is automatically measured inside the contour. A calibrated function defining a luminous intensity threshold for outlining a tumor is generated by mathematical approximation of the parameters. The pulmonary cancerous nodules are upper lobe nodules of lungs of patients.
