The head (1) has a crimping plier (10) including longitudinal branches whose outer surface is in shape of a curved ramp. An insert (22) of a crimping dome (20) has an active surface comprised of toric surfaces (27, 28) forming cams for cooperating with a peripheral surface of the ramp. One of the toric surfaces is in contact with the ramp, and normally tightens the plier. The other toric surface is in contact with the ramp of the plier after action of the former toric surface to tighten the plier beyond simple clamping.
