The trap device (1) has a collecting receptacle (10) collecting larvae and provided with a nozzle (110) and a cylindrical storage element (108). A light source (20) is placed opposite to the nozzle to attract the larvae when the light source emits light. The larvae move toward the receptacle when the light source does not emit light. A guiding unit (40) guides the larvae, and is movable between a deployed position and a closed position in which the guiding unit facilitates guidance and movement of the larvae toward the collecting receptacle. An independent claim is also included for a method for collecting larvae from a marine environment.
