The method involves detecting continuous shot mode and single shot mode of a digital image, and transforming an image part of the digital image to provide a set of transformed values. The data representing the image part of the digital image is quantified utilizing quantification parameters, when one of the modes is detected. The data representing the image part of the digital image acquired is entropy coded by a coding unit based on the detected mode.
