Crankshaft useful in an internal combustion engine, comprises a monoblock metallic shaft including coaxial bottom shaft, and crank pins connected with bottom shaft by arms extending perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the shaft
The crankshaft comprises a monoblock metallic shaft (1) including coaxial bottom shaft, crank pins (2) connected with bottom shaft (3) by arms (5) extending perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the shaft, balance weight carried by the arms, and a metallic shell. The shaft is present at each crank pins and grooves (4), which are rings made of a material having a density lower than a density of a material of the shaft. The shaft is constituted of a material consisting of cast iron and molded and forged steel. Each ring is constituted of a material consisting of polymer material. The crankshaft comprises a monoblock metallic shaft (1) including coaxial bottom shaft, crank pins (2) connected with bottom shaft (3) by arms (5) extending perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the shaft, balance weight carried by the arms, and a metallic shell. The shaft is present at each crank pins and grooves (4), which are rings made of a material having a density lower than a density of a material of the shaft. The shaft is constituted of a material consisting of cast iron and molded and forged steel. Each ring is constituted of: a material consisting of polymer material and light metal having a density lower than the material of the shaft; and two half-rings that are fixed in the grooves. The metallic shell is connected and fixed on each ring. Independent claims are included for: (1) an internal combustion engine; and (2) a process for fabricating a crankshaft.
