Accessing process data on an OPC server and converting for web-based interface display

A method to access process data stored on a server 104 includes receiving a request to access process data via a web browser 124, identifying a server that stores at least a portion of the process data, where the server is associated with an interoperability data packing format, preferably an OPC format, accessing the server to receive the process data, converting the process data from a format associated with the interoperability data packing format to a web browsing format, and embedding at least a first portion of the converted process data into at least one data field for display via the web browser. The method may be performed through the use of a server wrapper 110 including an adaptor 118 to identify and access the server, a converter 120 to perform the conversion, and a web-based interface 122 for display. This enables the use of a single interface for accessing and displaying data from multiple OPC servers.
