PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defect management method that enables smooth recording even if a defect has occurred during recording.;SOLUTION: An Nth piece of temporary defect information includes a pointer to a defective area in a disc 100, a pointer to an alternative area that replaces the defective area in the disc 100, an N-1th piece of the temporary defect information, and a piece of defect information on data recorded in a data area after the N-1th piece of the temporary defect information is recorded. A piece of temporary defect management information corresponding to the Nth piece of the temporary defect information is provided to a lead-in area and/or a lead-out area, containing position information on the Nth piece of the temporary defect information. The disc 100 further includes a defect management area provided to the lead-in area and/or the lead-out area. A last piece of the temporary defect information recorded on the temporary defect management area last, and a last piece of the temporary defect management information are recorded on the defect management area as a piece of the defect information and a piece of the defect management information.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
