PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable communication terminal capable of improving communication readiness while suppressing battery consumption.SOLUTION: A portable communication terminal related to the present invention comprises: a search part for searching a base station; a communication part for communicating with one or more base stations searched by the search part; a communication application determination part for determining whether or not the application program under execution is a communication application including processing where communication is made through the communication part; and a search cycle selection part for selecting a first short cycle which is shorter compared to when the communication application is not executed, and causing the search part to perform a searching in the first short cycle, when the communication application determination part determines that the application program under execution is the communication application.
