PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and accurate method for marking and identifying fishes and shellfishes of marine products, particularly fishes and shellfishes of marine products which comes from a specific production area, excellent fishery seeds and seedlings having one or a plurality of excellent characters, or fishes and shellfishes of marine products of specific kinds.SOLUTION: There are provided a method for tracing a production history of an individual or population of a fish and shellfish of marine products, or a part or processed good products of the same by using a base sequence of mitochondrial DNA D-loop, and a method for determining a marker gene usable for the method.
