Novel genes governing low amylose properties and methods for identifying low amylose rice varieties

PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient and highly accurate method and means for identifying a low-amylose variety. PSOLUTION: Disclosed is a Wx gene of following (a) or (b): (a) a gene having a specific base sequence; and (b) a gene highly hybridizable to a nucleic acid having a complementary sequence to the base sequence under a stringent condition and a function determining low-amylose content. Detection of the existence of the Wx gene in a rice for identification enables the identification of a low-amylose rice variety. PCOPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
