PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder for lithium ion secondary battery electrodes, a slurry using the binder, electrodes using the slurry, and a lithium ion secondary battery using the electrodes, in which binding properties between active materials themselves and between the active material and a current collector in a water dispersion system are good and high temperature cycle properties in charging and discharging are also good.SOLUTION: A binder composition for lithium ion secondary battery electrodes has a glass transition temperature of 30°C or less for resultant of emulsion polymerization of ethylenic unsaturated monomers containing: styrene in 15-70 wt.% to the total ethylenic unsaturated monomers; ethylenic unsaturated carboxylate ester; ethylenic unsaturated carboxylic acid; and an internal cross linking agent, as essential components in the presence of surfactant.
