PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve sizing properties and resistance to staining of a plate at offset printing, in a cationic surface-sizing agent.;SOLUTION: The cationic surface-sizing agent is obtained by using (A) a water-soluble polymer compound in combination with (B) a copolymer obtained by polymerizing (a) 20-40 wt.% tertiary amine-containing monomer, (b) 10-80 wt.% 4-18C alkyl ester of (meth)acrylic acid, and (c) 0-70 wt.% styrenes in the presence of a chain-transfer agent. The sizing properties and the resistance to the staining of the plate can coexist well by using the water-soluble polymer compound (A) in combination with the copolymer (B) having the specified monomer composition while roughly regulating the proportion of the styrenes without being restrained by the molecular weight of the copolymer and the polymerization requirement of an azo-based initiator.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
