PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for a steam reforming reaction using microcavity resonance, by which the thermal efficiency can be drastically improved, thereby the energy necessary for the steam reforming reaction can be significantly reduced, the outlet temperature of a reaction area can be largely reduced, and as a result, a reaction apparatus can be simplified or small-sized; and to provide an apparatus for the steam reforming reaction.;SOLUTION: In the method for the steam reforming reaction using microcavity resonance, comprising subjecting a gaseous raw material containing a raw gas and steam to the steam reforming reaction by heating the gaseous raw material in the presence of a catalyst, the reaction area for reacting the gaseous raw material is formed of a microcavity where electromagnetic waves having wavelengths inherent in substances (electromagnetic waves having specified wave lengths) and causing interaction with the raw gas and/or steam resonate.
