The Carbureted EGR technique consists of gas carburetor placed in the inlet manifold of the diesel engine and portion of exhaust gases led into the float chamber (fuel entry) of the carburetor. This combined effect of air volume control and EGR helps in controlling and reducing the effect of abundance of oxygen content and higher engine combustion temperature during combustion and thence reduces the formation of NOx (nitrogen oxides) in diesel engines.
