This present invention relates to a Ruthenium complex intercalated N,S-codoped titania pillared montmorillonite, a multifunctional photocatalyst and a process for the preparation thereof. More particularly, the present invention provides a green photochemical route towards a variety of light driven redox reactions such as organic dye degradations, photocatalytic water splitting and various organic transformation reactions oriented to the synthesis of fine chemicals.
