The present invention relates to a machine comprising a frame (2) and a retractable system affording protection to an operator against falling from a top face of the frame, said system comprises safety elements (5, 6, 7) intended to be raised to form barriers at least partially delimiting a secured perimeter (19) for said operator on said top face, characterized in that at least one safety element is formed by a portion (5, 6, 7) of a wall (25, 26) or of the top face of said frame (2), the portion (5, 6, 7) is designed to be moved between a first position in which it is incorporated into the associated wall (25, 26) or into the top face of the frame (2) and a stood-up second position in which it is placed some distance away from the remainder of the wall (25, 26) or of the top face (27) by being stood up vertically or at an angle to the vertical.
