The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for a base station to transmit downlink control information, including downlink allocation index information, in a wireless communication system that supports multiple carriers. The method for a base station to transmit downlink control information in a wireless communication system that supports multiple carriers according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: transmitting the downlink control information, including downlink assignment index (DAI) information that indicates the order of the assignment of downlink control channels, to a terminal, wherein the downlink assignment index information is mapped to a component carrier unit or to a time unit, the order of assignment indicated by the downlink assignment index information repeats in a group of index values, and a preset offset is applicable whenever the group of index values is repeated. Here, each index value is determined by a mathematical formula I=mod(P,N), where I represents each downlink assignment index value, P represents the order of assignment indicated by the downlink assignment index information, and N represents 2ⁿ, where n represents the number of bits for indicating the downlink assignment index information.
