Provided is a means for mitigating stringent constraints between a virtual polyhedron inscribed in a rotor and a virtual polyhedron inscribed in a stator in a spherical stepping motor and a spherical AC servomotor and drastically increasing the degree of freedom in design.The above problem is solved by disposing permanent magnets at points for dividing the sides of a virtual polyhedron inscribed in a rotor and electromagnets at points for dividing the sides of a virtual polyhedron inscribed in a stator. A multiple pole spherical stepping motor and a multiple pole spherical AC servomotor comprise: a rotor in which permanent magnets are disposed at vertices of a virtual polyhedron inscribed in a sphere and at points for dividing the arcs corresponding to the sides connecting the vertices; and a stator in which electromagnets are disposed at vertices of a virtual polyhedron inscribed in a sphere containing the sphere of the rotor and at points for dividing the arcs corresponding to the sides connecting the vertices.
