A storage medium diagnosis device (1) is provided with: a storage unit (11) which stores diagnosis results for each partial region relating to a storage region of a storage medium; a superior access implementation unit (12) which accesses a region corresponding to an access request from a superior device, and stores the access result as a diagnosis result in the storage unit (11); a diagnosis region specification unit (13) which specifies the diagnosis region to be diagnosed next, on the basis of the diagnosis results, for each of the partial regions, stored in the storage unit (11); and a diagnosis implementation unit (14) which accesses and diagnoses the diagnosis region specified by the diagnosis region specification unit (13), and stores the diagnosis result in the storage unit (11). Thus, the diagnosis time for the storage medium is reduced, and a drop in performance is prevented, even during operation.
