BRANCHING OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE FOR IMPROVING THE LIGHT LOSS AND DIVISION UNIFORMITY OF OPTICAL POWER AND A FABRICATING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A branching optical waveguide and a fabricating method thereof are provided to improve the light loss and optical power division ratio of a branching optical waveguide by using a core of an engraved type optical guide.;CONSTITUTION: A branching optical waveguide is composed of an input optical waveguide(100) and first and second output optical waveguides(200,300). The input optical waveguide receives optical signals through a cross section on an input side. A width of the input optical waveguide becomes wider toward a cross section on an output side. The first and the second output optical waveguides are extended to be symmetrical around a central line from the cross section on the output side of the input optical waveguide. An interval between inner sides of the first and the second output optical waveguides is formed to be separated at a constant interval in the cross section on the output side of the input optical waveguide.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
