PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing silicon using methane is provided to accelerate the reduction speed of silicon oxide into silicon by additionally using methane as a reducing agent.;CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing silicon using methane includes 70 to 100 weight% of carbon sources and 0 to 30 weight% of methane gas as a reducing agent. 55 to 75 weight% of silica stone and 25 to 45 weight% of the reducing agent containing the carbon source and the methane gas are prepared. The silica stone and the carbon are reacted in an electric furnace(10) to obtain silicon. At least one gas selected from a group including hydrogen and carbon monoxide is further used for obtaining the silicon.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2012
