Fiber laser pumped by incoherent light sources

Disclosed is an optical fiber laser in which an expensive conventional pumping light source is replaced by an inexpensive component to reduce manufacturing costs. The optical fiber laser of the present invention comprises: a pump light source which emits incoherent light; and an optical fiber resonator containing a gain medium having an absorption band corresponding to the spectrum of the light emitted from the pump light source. According to the present invention, a small and inexpensive optical fiber laser in which instability caused by polarization is prevented can be obtained.
