A process for the functionalization of a semiconductor - nanoparticle of at least one semiconductor - nanoparticles - core of zns (zinc sulfide) as a semiconductor material and at least one hydrophilic outer layer, wherein the hydrophilic outer layer of molecules, the at least one coupling group per molecule to the coupling of a detection molecule, comprising the steps of:a) activation of the coupling groups of the hydrophilic outer layer,b) binding of the detection of molecule across the coupling group - to the semiconductor nanoparticles, wherein detection molecule - and the semiconductor nanoparticles in a ratio of 1: 1 to 30: 1, preferably 2: 1 to 20: 1, preferably 3: 1 to 10: 1 are caused to react, wherein the detection of molecule is selected from amino acids, proteins, nucleic acids, polysaccharides or other biochemical agent, and wherein the detection of molecule a bond to further biological substances is made possible andc) deactivation of the free coupling groups by simultaneous or subsequent addition of a not - active biomolecule.
