The set has a detection unit (14) i.e. ultrasonic sensor, detecting a volume indicating an air mass flowing through a measuring tube (12). An insert member (18) is inserted into the measuring tube to increase flow rate of air in a detection area i.e. middle area (22) of the insert member, as a function of the air flow expected by the measuring tube. A sense element (16) of the detection unit is arranged at the measuring tube and the insert member is funnel-shaped and extended downstream the sense element. The detection area is formed downstream an outlet (28) of the insert member. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an airflow meter for a motor vehicle.
