The wet end (2) has a pressing unit (4) provided with a shoe pressing device (7) that is located upstream of a couching press roll (8) and a backing roll (10). The press roll forming a press nip (11) is felted in a fibrous material web running direction. A forming unit (3) is provided with the pressing unit, and a couching press device (5) is arranged in the forming unit. The backing roll is partly formed by a wire belt (14) of the forming unit. The backing roll of the couching press device is formed by suction rolls (13, 17).
