The device (10) has a material reservoir (20) receiving liquid material (M). A molding tool (24) is formed with filling regions (28, 28a-28d) to be filled with the liquid material from the reservoir. A material supply line (38) connects the reservoir with the filling regions. Optical fibers (48a-48e) are arranged in one or more regions of the material supply line and/or the filling regions. A fiber Bragg grating sensor is integrated into the optical fibers for detecting a characteristic parameter of the liquid material flowing through the material supply line and/or the filling regions. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for manufacturing a component (2) an airplane structure component comprising a fiber reinforced composite material portion.
