The method involves transmitting apparatus identification data e.g. manufacturer, by a slave (2) in a field bus system to a master component (1) in the bus system in an inactive state of the slave, where the bus system conforms to actuator sensor (AS) interfacestandard. An apparatus of the slave is identified based on the transmitted identification data, and data exchanging telegram is transmitted by the master component to the slave during the inactive state, where the telegram contains utilizable data for extended data communication from the master component to the slave. An independent claim is also included for a master component for receiving apparatus identification data.
