The arrangement has two level measuring devices (30, 34) operated using microwaves guided into wave guides (32, 36), where the wave guide of one of the measuring devices is vertically arranged in a container (10). The wave guide of the other measuring device is horizontally arranged in the container and formed as a coaxial wave guide. Filling material (14) is provided on another filling material (12) in the container, and a wave guide closure is attached to an end of the wave guide of the latter measuring device for producing a positive wave guide end signal. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting separation layers of two liquid filling materials in a container.
