The belt has a webbing (1) comprising an internal cavity that extends along a longitudinal axis of the webbing over two webbing portions (5, 9). One of the webbing portions is more resilient transverse to the longitudinal axis of the webbing than along the longitudinal axis of the webbing. Two webbing layers are arranged one above the other. The cavity is provided between the webbing layers. A gas generator (3) is arranged at the webbing portion. The other webbing portion is less resilient transverse to the longitudinal axis of the webbing than the former webbing portion.
