Decomposing carnallite deposits (1) comprises selective and/or non-selective solution mining, and obtaining potassium chloride as a main product and magnesium chloride brine from the magnesium chloride of carnallite. A self-solidifying mixture made of magnesium chloride and basic additives is introduced, after sinking the brine drill holes, creating the initial cavity and solution mining of carnallite through a brine filled brine cavern created in the carnallite rock and surrounded by operatable pillar. The potassium-containing brine cavity (3) is completely or largely repressed. Decomposing carnallite deposits (1) comprises selective and/or non-selective solution mining, and obtaining potassium chloride as a main product and magnesium chloride brine from the magnesium chloride of carnallite. A self-solidifying mixture made of magnesium chloride and basic additives is introduced, after sinking the brine drill holes, creating the initial cavity and solution mining of carnallite through a brine filled brine cavern created in the carnallite rock and surrounded by operatable pillar. The potassium-containing brine cavity (3) is completely or largely repressed and obtained. An additional drill hole is drilled in a subsequent phase into the remaining salt pillar. The pillars and spandrels are leached at load transfer through the cured mixture, after curing the mixture of the carnallite rock present in the previous brine cavern, and this brine filled new cavity is partially or completely filled with self-solidifying mixture or magnesium chloride brine as the liquid, after the solution mining of the previous pillar. The drill holes are sealed.
