Method for automatic longitudinal control of vehicle i.e. motor car, by driver assistance system, involves displaying graphical representation of automatic longitudinal control for ahead-lying traffic section based on acquired attributes
The method involves detecting attributes (21, 22, 23, 24) of an ahead-lying traffic section (25) for the traveling speed of a vehicle (20). A fuel consumption-optimized velocity profile for the ahead-lying traffic section is computed in the context of the speed of the vehicle. A graphical representation of automatic longitudinal control for the ahead-lying traffic section is displayed based on the acquired attributes. An automatic longitudinal control of the vehicle is performed based on the computed velocity profile. The acquired attribute is changed based on the computed velocity profile. An independent claim is also included for a driver assistance system with automatic longitudinal control for a vehicle, comprising a display device.
