The arrangement (1) has crash boxes (4) and a pedestrian protection element (6) that are arranged at a cross beam (2), where material of the protection element exhibits strength less than that of the cross beam. An energy absorber (8) i.e. profile, is pivotably arranged at the arrangement and coupled at the cross beam and the crash boxes. The absorber is moved to front of the protection element and made of metallic material, where material of the profile exhibits strength higher than that of the protection element. The protection element is made of plastic material. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a bumper arrangement.
