The method involves scanning a coverage area of an environment with a scanning beam (31.1) of a light detecting and ranging (Lidar) sensor (31) and detecting radiation reflecting at objects in the environment then evaluating at objects in the environment. Intensity (R) of back scattered radiation of the scanning beam is detected as function of a distance (A) and a threshold (DS) for amplitude of an intensity curve is predetermined. An independent claim is also included for a device for executing an environmental detection method.
