The method involves reading necessary time period over an extent of representation along timeline for carrying out a work program. A time period is determined for duration of the sequence of the work program by a preparation time for preparation of sequence of the work program or a follow-up time is determined for postprocessing execution of the work program. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an operating device with a display device and an input device for use in a cooking appliance in kitchen network; and (2) a cooking appliance for use in kitchen network, which has multiple cooking areas.
