The method involves supplying suction air stream to a dirt separator (15) via a suction mouth, and blowing the air into a filter bag (11) by an electromotor driven blower (3), where the dirt separator is continuously rotated during the suction operation by applying the suction air on a blower wheel formation which is connected with the dirt separator. The blower wheel formation is exposed to the air flow only in the suction or blowing air region, where the dirt separator is provided with multiple dirt separator chambers. An independent claim is also included for a movable vacuum cleaner.
