Spring for a mechanical clockwork comprises an amorphous alloy comprising a nickel cobalt iron chromium boron silicon carbon phosphorous molybdenum niobium vanadium tantalum tungsten compound of formula (Ni aCo bFe cCr dB eSi fC gP hMo iNb kV lTa mW n) (I) or nickel chromium silicon phosphorous boron iron molybdenum niobium compound of formula (Ni a1Cr b1Si c1P d1B e1Fe f1Mo g1Nb h1) (II), where incidental impurities are = 1 atom%. c : 0-25 atom%; d : 2-21 atom%; e : 1-20 atom%; f : 0-20 atom%; g : 0-20 atom%; h : 0-20 atom%; i : 0-5 atom%; k : 0-5 atom%; l : 0-5 atom%; m : 0-5 atom%; n : 0-5 atom%; and a, b : not defined, where e, f, g, h are greater than 15 atom% and less than (0.033x 2-1.2x+32) atom%, and x is chromium content (in atom%); and b1 : 4-21 atom%; c1 : 0-10 atom%; d1 : 5-18 atom%; e1 : 1-5 atom%; f1 : 0-5 atom%; g1 : 0-5 atom%; h1 : 0-5 atom%; and a1 : not defined. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a mechanical clockwork comprising the spring; (2) a clock comprising the mechanical clockwork; and (3) producing the spring comprising melting the alloy, molding an amorphous ribbon from the molten alloy, coiling the amorphous ribbon on a first support in a first winding direction and heat treating of the coiled ribbon.
