The method involves determining the size of the decision variable wind directly from output signals of partial receiving devices (35,37) of receiving device (13). The difference between output signals of partial receiving devices is evaluated, so as to determine wind size of speech signal of occupants (15,17). The position of the mouth (25) of an occupant relative to receiving device is estimated, based on directional characteristic of receiving device. The speech of occupant in interior space is detected based on decision variation of the occupant relative to receiving device. An independent claim is included for a motor vehicle with a speech capturing device.
