Treating a bathwater in a tank (1) comprises circulating the bath water in a domestic water circuit (5), disinfecting and preferably additionally chlorinating, adding hydrogen peroxide to the circulating water bath in the domestic water circuit and removing hydrogen peroxide by irradiating the water with UV-light, before it is chlorinated and fed back into the tank. An INDEPENDENT claim is also included for a device for carrying out the above method comprising the tank bath water, a circulation pump (4) provided with domestic water circuit containing a water treatment device (6) and preferably at least one downstream chlorination device (7), where the water treatment device comprise at least one hydrogen peroxide admixing device for the addition of hydrogen peroxide to the circulating bath water and downstream to this at least one UV-light irradiation device for irradiation of the circulating bath water with UV-light.
