Purifying water of a water reservoir (1) having a drinking water supply system, comprises conducting water from the water reservoir in a conduit (17), passing an UV reactor (15) and treating the water with UV light at a wavelength greater than 200nm, preferably 250-260nm, and passing the treated water to a removal station (9) or back into the water reservoir. An independent claim is also included for a drinking water supply system comprising a water reservoir, which has an inlet, and a conduit for guiding the water to a removal station, where the conduit is provided with a UV reactor for purification of the water in the conduit.
