The gauge has a base body (1) with an outer stop surface (3) and an inner stop surface (4), and a measuring element (2) attached on the base body. The measuring element is formed to determine the inside length of a shoe in cooperation with the outer stop surface. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining the correct length of a shoe using a gauge.
