The mechanism has a shaft (1) i.e. camshaft, rotatable around a rotational axis (2). A cam (5) i.e. intake cam, is rotatably mounted on the shaft within a specified region. A freewheel (6) is adjusted by a flyweight, so that the shaft is rotated at appropriate speed for adjusting another cam (3) i.e. exhaust cam, relative to the former cam. The freewheel comprises bolting springs (7) and sleeves (8), where the springs are operatively connected with the sleeves and/or actuated by a force transmission element (14). The transmission element is connected with the former cam.
