The device (32) has a tool body (33) comprising a tool retaining area (34) for mounting to a tool retainer, and a processing area (35). Blades (37, 38) for cutting of workpieces are arranged at the processing area. A sensor arrangement (40) checks the workpieces, where a measuring area of the sensor arrangement is arranged at the processing area. The sensor arrangement has a sensor e.g. contactless sensor and/or optical sensor and/or inductive sensor. An adjusting drive (45) adjusts the blades with respect to the tool body, where the sensor is arranged at a sensor-holder.
